ACT Assessment
Information about the test, including frequently asked questions, sample questions and strategies, and how to register for it online.

Applying to Colleges Online
Find out how to get ready for college, find the right school, practice entrance exams, and contact colleges.

College Board Online
Register for the SAT online. Once you've taken it, send your scores to schools. Plus lots of other information about applying to colleges, including a useful calendar.

College Is Possible
This site provides helpful information in three areas: preparing for college, choosing the right college, and paying for college. Each section includes an overview of the process plus a resource library that includes both books and Web sites. .

Common Application Online
Apply simultaneously for different colleges that use the common application form. You must register in order to use the site.

Educational Testing Service
Practice questions for AP, SAT, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, and LSATs. Also includes information about financial aid, colleges and universities, and careers and jobs.

Youth Employment Institute
Job readiness training and supervised work experiences, plus computer training, GED preparation, and more. GED tests are offered here weekly.

Free TestPrep
By trying sample SAT questions online, this program identifies your weak areas and suggests ways to help.

Apply for government financial aid through FAFSA on-line! .

This page, from the Education and Social Science Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has links to the kind of rankings that really matter: to the top activist colleges, the most wired campuses, the most accessible campuses for people with disabilities, the colleges with the best value, et cetera. It also includes links to articles that caution against taking ratings too seriously.

CollegeView Search
Search the CollegeView database for colleges that meet your specific requirements: costs, majors, services, computing resources, types of residence, city size, etc. Some ads for the CollegeView CD-ROM.

Community College Web
Links to the homepages of community colleges all over the US, plus resources related to the community college experience.

College Search
U 101 has rounded up links to over 3000 college and university web sites in North America.

IPEDS COOL
"Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System College Opportunities On-Line" (no wonder they abbreviate it!) comes from the National Center for Education Statistics. It has information not available on most commercial sites, including three years of college costs, details on degrees awarded, enrollment and student demographics; and official data reported to the federal government, especially for federal student aid programs.

MassMentor: Your Internet Connection to the Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts
Excellent site for Massachusett's Colleges.  Plan a career; prepare for college; select a school, apply online, and check financial aid.

Peterson's: Colleges and Universities
Search for colleges and universities in several ways, including alphabetically, geographically, by majors offered, and by religious affiliation.

United States Universities
Despite the name, this page includes links to both college and university homepages in the United States.

US News and World Report College and Career Center
An amazing amount of information here: college rankings, financial aid, college life, worksheets to calculate costs, career information, and more.

Worldwide Directory of Residential Colleges
Links to the homepages of residential colleges, plus a description of the philosophy of residential colleges. If you don't know what a residential college is or why you might want to attend one, this is where to find out.
