Manga Book Club

First Meeting
Monday, March 9
4:00pm - 5:00pm

Try out our most requested club for teens, Manga Book Club! Come together to talk about manga. We’ll read a new title each month then gather in the library's Teen Space to chat about it. Whether you love it or hate it you are welcome to come share your thoughts. Both longtime fans and new manga readers are invited. We'll have questions and snacks ready to go to help get the conversation rolling.

For our first meeting (Monday, March 9) we'll be reading Spy X Family Vol 1. by Tatsuya Endo.

Knitting Group

WHEN: Mondays 1:00-3:00pm


This knitting group is open to all ages and skill levels! Drop in anytime between 1:00 and 3:00 to knit, crochet, or hand-sew in a group setting. Beginners welcome! There will be seasoned knitters here to teach you and provide tips and tricks.

Alphabets & Allies

WHEN: Third Monday of every month (fourth if it falls on a holiday) from 5:00-6:00pm

Tweens and teens ages 9-18 are invited to join Alphabet & Allies, a support group for LGBTQIA+ youth and their allies. Hang out with like-minded peers while we play games, journal, chat, craft, and more.

This group is a collaboration between Valuing Our Children and the Athol Public Library.

Teen D&D Club

WHEN: Second and Fourth Tuesdays of the month from 3:30-5:00pm

Are you ready for a new adventure?

Valuing Our Children and the Athol Public Library are partnering together to bring a new Dungeons and Dragons club to the library's Teen Space. Both new and experienced players are welcome to join the fun. The club will meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 3:30pm-5:00pm. All materials will be provided. Free and open to teens ages 12-18. Space is limited and registration is required.

Athol Knights Chess Club

WHEN: Tuesday Evenings at 6:00pm

The Athol Knights Chess Club is welcoming new members. Join coaches Dave and Clint for an evening of chess at the library. Learn the classic game from experienced players or find new opponents to challenge.

All ages willing to learn are welcome. No registration is required.

The club meets weekly on Tuesday evenings on the second floor of the library (between the two study rooms) from 6:00-7:45 pm. Children ages 8 and under must have an adult present in the building for the duration of the program.

ATAC: Athol Teen Advisory Council

WHEN: Fourth Tuesday of the month from 5:00-6:00pm at the library.

Teens have to apply before attending meetings!

Want to be more involved in the library? Teens ages 12-18 are invited to apply to join ATAC: the Athol Teen Advisory Council! The teen leadership group works with Emily, the teen specialist, to bring new ideas and projects to the library. Teens who are interested in participating can pick up an application in the Teen Space.

During Meetings Teens:

  • help plan teen programs like scavenger hunts or mini carnivals
  • support community projects such as the local scarf bombing
  • talk with other teens and make new friends
  • talk about what they have been reading and help pick out new books
  • voice their opinions on what is happening at the library
  • earn volunteer hours

Tween & Teen Dungeons & Dragons Club

WHEN: First Wednesday of the month from 3:30-5:30pm

Looking for adventure and excitement? Whether you're a seasoned player or a beginner, our club welcomes all adventurers ages 10-18. We will meet on the first Wednesday of each month from 3:30-5:30 pm to explore the vast and magical world of D&D.

We provide all the necessary materials, including character sheets and dice, so all you need to bring is your imagination. Our club is a great opportunity to make new friends, exercise your problem-solving skills, and have fun!
