A Look at the 2025 Comic Book Fest

It has been a month since the 4th Annual Comic Book Fest and the library is still abuzz with all the fun everyone had. The event was a great success, drawing people of all ages from all over the state to Athol. Nearly 300 comic book fans joined the Athol Public Library and Hero Shack Press in Liberty Hall on October 18. Twenty-four local and independent comic creators exhibited their work while community partners from around the region provided free activities including face paint, table top games, a scavenger hunt, and more. Visitors also participated in special activities throughout the day including a how-to-draw session, a Q&A session with author Colleen Venable, and a head to head drawing competition. One of the highlights of the afternoon was the all ages cosplay contest. Thirty-four contestants entered with cosplays from TV series, anime, movies, comics, classic literature, web comics, and YouTube. The Library and Hero Shack team are already meeting to plan next year’s event. Mark your calendars for October 17, 2026!
