Program: Women in the Arab World: Where Are We Now?

A slide talk and book signing with Dr. Gwenn Meredith. 3/3/15, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Free and Open to the Public

Dr. Meredith has returned to the United States following nearly 10
years residence in the middle east.  While in Egypt and the United
Arab Emirates, she taught at the American University in Cairo and the
United Arab Emirates University.  While in Cairo, she became involved
in the plight of Middle Eastern women including the social, religious,
and economic conditions under which they live.

Women in the Arab World focuses on those who often suffer most severely the pangs of revolution.  Dr. Meredith concentrates in
particular on the street girls of Egypt and the bleakness of the lives
they live.

Dr. Meredith has developed several courses, written articles, and has completed a book on the subject of street girls in Egypt entitled Il
Binait Dol: Egypt's Hidden Shame.

In addition to her teaching portfolio Dr. Meredith has spoken at the World Affairs Councils of Western Massachusetts and the Windham World Affairs Council in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Free and Open to the Public.
