Dear PC Doctor:
I bought a new Windows 10 laptop a little while ago. I got to work right away writing and putting my data into spreadsheets. Something’s happened and my documents won’t open anymore. I was using Office. Why did it stop working? What can I do?
Thanks,
Joy
Dear Joy:
Do you know if you purchased Microsoft Office when you got your new computer? If you did, you probably have a product key number. Or, maybe you subscribed to Microsoft 365 to gain access to Word, Excel, and the other Office programs. There’s information to help you work through either of those scenarios at support.microsoft.com.
If you haven’t purchased either of the services, it may be that you were using the trial version and it has expired. That means that you have choices now! You can purchase software, subscribe to the app, or choose to use one of the free online tools such as Google Drive or Open Office.
I hope this helps!
Until next time,
Happy Computing!
PC Doctor
