Program: Civil War History

Did you know that 2012 marks the 150th anniversary of several notable events of the American Civil War?

In the library's Activities Room

for a fascinating presentation about the Civil War by history enthusiasts Brad Peters and Jan Ross!

After a brief introduction, we will learn about the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment and General Joshua Chamberlain. Then, Peters and Ross will lead us through five battles; Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, The Wilderness, Petersburg, and the surrender at Appomattox Courthouse, with special emphasis on Gettysburg and Little Round Top.

An exciting and unique feature of the evening will be a display of the weapons and artifacts from the Civil War era, and the opportunity for program attendees to exploring and even handle them, with Peters and Ross available for any questions.

This library program is free and open to the public.
