People in diverse communities in Australia, England and around the
world are taking small steps to grow their own food, conserve
resources and reduce their contribution to global warming. Want to
learn what they are doing?
On February 26, there will be a free screening of the movie, The
Growing Edge. The film introduces the topic of permaculture. Permaculture is based on three basic ethics: Care for the earth, Care
for people, and Care for the future. The film features low-tech
solutions that empower ordinary people to take responsibility for
their own needs and impacts.
Locally various groups are spearheading efforts to increase production
of our own food. In Orange, Seeds of Solidarity in Orange advocates
that we Grow Food Everywhere. A short video about the various
projects they have initiated will also be shown.
A discussion moderated by members of area energy committees with a
focus on local projects and possibilities will conclude the program. Brochures will be available. Refreshments will be provided through
the Friends of the Athol Public Library.
Sign up by calling the library at 978-249-9515. Space is limited.
Please register.
Please plan to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the program.
This program is made possible by a partnership of the Athol and Orange
town libraries and the Orange Town Energy Committee.
This program is free and open to the public.
