Join the library for an exciting evening of travel!
On Tuesday May 21, at 5:30, several local writers will be presenting a slide show and sharing stories of their travels and work in the Peace Corps and other forms of service in Africa.
Many of these stories have been chronicled in Echoes of Africa, a new book from Haley's. The book features reminiscences by eleven writers with ties to the North Quabbin who have lived and worked in an African country. All who attend will be entered into a drawing to win a copy of the book.
Compiled by Mary-Ann DeVita Palmieri of New Salem and Marcia Gagliardi of Athol, the book includes reflections by former Peace Corps members, a Catholic nun, an early childhood educator, an art historian, and a health care professional. Several of the writers still live in Africa or return periodically while others lived in Africa as much as thirty or forty years ago and have never returned.
Writers who will be present to speak include Mary-Ann DeVita Palmieri, Tony Palmieri and Beth Gospodarek.
