Dear PC Doctor:

My company uses Gmail for work. Recently, Gmail had an update that now populates the bottom of any reply message screen with automatic reply options. I have, on occasion, accidentally clicked on one. I will never intentionally use a canned response to a work email – Is there a way to remove this feature?

Thank you,

Rita

Dear Rita:

Yes, this feature can be turned off. First, log into your Gmail account. Then, look at the top right and click on the little picture of the cog. Click the word “Settings.” On the Settings screen, click “General” from the horizontal menu along the top. Scroll down until you see “Smart Reply.” Choose “Smart reply off.” Those automatic reply options should no longer be visible.

Until next time,
Happy Computing!
