Dear PC Doctor:

I just upgraded to Microsoft Office 2019. It’s fine, but there’s one thing I can’t stand: Every document opens in ‘protected mode,’ which means I start working away and it takes a few seconds to realize that nothing is happening. In order to make changes, I have to click that button at the top that says “Enable Editing.” How do I get rid of that? I opened the document, of course I want to enable editing! This is really slowing me down and I hate it. Can you help?

Thanks,

Robin

Dear Robin:

I can help!

Start Word, click File and then choose Options. Click Trust Center and then Trust Center Options. Click Protected View, then disable (uncheck) all three of the options listed there. Click OK.

I hope this helps!
Until next time,
Happy Computing!
