"The Wild Mushroom" artwork by Maryellen Burns. November 3 - 30.
Maryellen Burns, of Orange, is primarily a self-taught artist. Burns originally worked in oils and silk screening. In 1970 MaryEllen learned the art of "Mushroom Printing" or "Spore Art." The process she uses causes the spores and dust from the mushrooms to adhere to the background paper. Each individual mushroom makes a special print similar to one's own fingerprint.
Burns has been awarded a blue ribbon by the Leominster Art Association. Maryellen's studio can be found at her home in Orange, MA.
Maryellen's mushroom prints will be on view in the Athol Library's conference room through November 30th.
