Teen Manga Book Club: A Silent Voice
Monday, April 13 from 4:00–5:00pm
Try out our most requested club for teens, Manga Book Club! Come together to talk about manga. We’ll read a new title each month then gather in the library's Teen Space to chat about it. Whether you love it or hate it you are welcome to come share your thoughts. Both longtime fans and new manga readers are welcome. We'll have questions and snacks ready to go to help get the conversation rolling.
In April we will be discussing volume one of A Silent Voice by Yoshitoki Oima.
"Years ago, Shoya Ishida led his peers in tormenting a hearing-impaired classmate, Shoko Nishimiya. When she transfers schools, Shoya finds he has gone from bully to bullied, and is left completely alone. Now Shoya struggles to redeem himself in Shoko’s eyes and to face the classmates who turned on him. This emotional drama is one of the most critically-acclaimed manga of the decade, earning an Eisner nomination and accolades from teachers and the American Library Association." A Silent Voice
Free and open to all teens ages 12-18. Pick up a copy of the book in the Teen Space.
